Arguably one of Greece's loveliest ports, Navplion is also the doorway to one of antiquity's most powerful city-states: Mycenae. Here Agamemnon, conqueror of Troy, ruled over a city with massive walls, majestic gates, and marvellous tombs, once filled with golden treasure. The site, even partially restored, is awesome.
